NJ FY 2026 Online Casino and Sports Betting Tax Hike Finalized at 19.75%

On June 30, 2025, New Jersey finalized its FY26 budget, locking in a new tax rate of 19.75% on online casino and sports betting revenue. The change follows months of industry pushback after the Governor’s February proposal to raise the rate to 25%.

While the final number came in lower than initially proposed, it still marks a significant increase from the previous 15% online casino tax, a 13% online sports betting tax and a 10.5% daily fantasy sports operating fee. The increase highlights a growing trend: as New Jersey and other states seek to close budget gaps, the online gaming sector remains a target for new revenue.
